THEY ARE MACHINES, Research Unpacked is a researched based project that catalogs and maps the participatory influences of a graphic design genealogy. It is a considered but loosely curated collection of artifacts representative of what are considered critical social and cultural influences. The suitcase has literally been ‘unpacked’. In essence, these influences are ‘mechanisms’ that drive cultural influence, in return become the ‘parts’ contributing to the design persona. Also, ‘they are machines’ points to the ideology resulting from this study.
