4 Towers in 1: Shenzhen
Master Plan Permanent Branding Installation
LCD Interactive Structural Facade System
2009
4 Towers in 1 is a recent master planning project by Morphosis Architects consisting of a system of headquarters for multiple corporate clients in a central district of Shenzhen, China. Architectural designers and I proposed a system of self-branding towers, in which the building marquees temporally move along their facades; interfacing with the public at exponential intervals. The entire skin of each tower is a programmable animated space. The clients' logotypes rise, set and move along the trajectory of each vertical and horizontal form, acknowledging the Chinese work day and seasons, as well as, allow the skins to become programmable, unique festive spaces, transforming the plaza into a spectrum of ambient environments and event-centric locales.
This is a recent win for the Morphosis firm, therefore only renderings of this project are currently available. The built form will not be underway for some time.
